Despite the decline of Britpop, British records occupy the entire top ten with a feeling that there was a future available.
Acts who in other years could - and did - make the top 30 but missed out this time were Missy Elliott, Stereolab, Pavement, David Holmes and Wilco. Mansun's first album Attack Of The Grey Lantern missed the top 30, as would the next two releases.
