Brisbane's most significant contribution to the world of glam pop was its most distinguished son, Mike Chapman. Its other claim to fame, however, is that it's home to the best Suzi Quatro website on the Net. The site's run by Patrick Doonan, a fan from the 70s even though he's too young to have seen Suzi on her first visits to Australia in 1974. Instead he experienced her on TV and on record: 'I grew up listening to the music, and it was really influential - I just loved the screaming and all that really loud music, with the drums, it just had a lot of energy. And she was such a distant person, somebody I would never meet or see.' Nowadays, of course, having kept the faith through the years, he has met her and he's an authority on her work and her continuing appeal, particularly in Australia. 'She said on an interview last time she was here that she's not one of these untouchables. And I think that's why people like her here in Australia anyway, because we don't take too much to snobby pop stars.' My best advice would be: go visit. Check out the links pages.
