Alwyn W Turner is a London-based writer of non-fiction, whose work covers an eclectic range of interests, from paperbacks to politics, fashion to architecture, rock & roll to military bands.

He is the author of Crisis? What Crisis?, The Biba Experience and most recently Halfway to Paradise: The Birth of British Rock; he is also the co-author of Cult Rock Posters 1972-82 and Magic Gardens, and he edited Portmeirion. Details of these, and other books, can be found on this site.

His work has been widely and enthusiastically reviewed; TV appearances range from The Tube to Richard & Judy; extensive radio broadcasting includes an agreeable half-hour with his favourite radio DJ Johnnie Walker on Radio 2, reminiscing about Biba.

He has ghost-written for Screaming Lord Sutch, and his work appears in The Rough Guide To Rock and on the BBC website, where a review of a Cliff Richard CD prompted this gushing tribute from a resident of New York City: 'Alwyn Turner, next to Cliff you are my favorite Englishman...'

He is also the writer of a large number of games, including murder dinner parties adapted from the works of Agatha Christie and Raymond Chandler, the board games of They Think It's All Over and Never Mind the Buzzcocks and the mobile-phone version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, as well as dozens of trivia games.

In previous lives he has been a gardener for the Army, a cinema projectionist, a failed election candidate, a secretary and a singer with an art-noise post-blues band ('a cross between Anthony Perkins and Sandy from Crossroads,' said the Melody Maker).
